STEM & Root Wine by Et Fille Wines
Announcing Our Special Edition 2020 STEM & Root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
At Et Fille Wines, we wanted a beautiful silver lining to emerge from the challenges of the 2020 vintage. With this in mind, we created our 2020 STEM & root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir to help raise awareness and funds for STEM education. Our family roots are in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — combining our passion for wine and STEM was a natural fit!
For this limited bottling, we took two of our most beloved sites from the 2020 vintage and blended them harmoniously. This wine represents the total of our scarce 2020 Pinot Noir vintage. The goal in blending was to allow the diversity of the Willamette Valley to reveal itself in an honest representation of the vintage’s full potential. The result is a robust and bold wine from two of the best Pinot Noir vineyards in Oregon.
What Does STEM Mean?
STEM is an acronym that stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Now more than ever, STEM education is critically important to our country's future. As explained in the National Science Foundation (NSF) report A National Action Plan for Addressing the Critical Needs for U.S. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education System:
“In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important... To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.”
Engaging Girls in STEM
We truly believe that STEM education has the power to create a better community for all our children, but we're especially excited to support STEM education for girls with this delicious wine. We've partnered with Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest for a collaboration to raise awareness and funds for their Eureka! Program. The US Bureau of Labor reports that employment in STEM fields is projected to grow 8.8% by 2028. This visionary curriculum takes a STEM-based approach to engaging and empowering our girls to become an important part of the future workforce.
Supporting those with a burgeoning interest in STEM is a cause near and dear to our hearts.
“After the challenging year we all faced, I wanted something good to come out of 2020 and to create a wine that could make a difference in our community,” said Jessica Mozeico, president and winemaker of Et Fille Wines. “It’s our hope that with each bottle sold, we can further support STEM education and inspire girls to pursue their passion.”
Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest aims to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The organization provides life-changing programs and experiences for youth ages six through 18 which will help them grow up to be healthy, educated, and independent. A Silver Lining to A Difficult Year
The gorgeous 2020 STEM & root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a robust and layered wine with aromas of plum, blackberry, white flowers, and thyme. As fragrant as it is complex, we couldn’t be more proud of this wine.
The palate of boysenberry and mint has a bold texture and melds the dark fruit of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA with the herbal and floral notes of the Dundee Hills AVA. Sourcing from the Maresh and Kalita Vineyards, we have only produced 231 cases of this special wine.
This wine retails for only $24 per bottle and is now available for pre-order, with shipping in early September. For more information and to purchase a bottle of the 2020 STEM & root Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, shop online or visit our tasting room in Newberg. We can’t wait to share it with you!
